Siofok is a beautiful city of Hungary, located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton in Somogy County.

The settlement is the most popular holiday destination in Hungary. Most of the locals call it the “Capital of the Balaton” because it is the largest city on the banks of the lake and is like a main agent of tourism in the region.

The Krúdy Villa

The Krúdy Villa is one of the most important architectural tourist attractions of Siofok and it is located near the port. The writer spent every summer from 1914 until 1919 in this house. Krúdy Gyula met and fell in love in 1915 with the 21 years younger Zsuzsa Várady-Rózsa, who later married him and they lived together in the last day of his life in happy harmony.

The Rose Garden

The Rose Garden is situated directly on the shores of the Lake. The diversity of the flower beds and rose bushes, the shade of the giant plane trees, the touch of the lake creates a paradise atmosphere. You will see the statues of the famous Hungarian writer Frederick Karinthy and of the first men who swum across the Lake, the Mermaid of the Balaton and the Fishermen statue.

The Jókai Villa

The famous Hungarian writer, Jókai spent his last summer in this charming villa. Jókai often visited this city of the Lake of Balaton. This architectural tourist attraction functioned as a hotel until the end of the Second World War, then in 1947 became the property of the state. The building was used as a police building, a music school and Pannonia center. Currently works as a restaurant and hotel.

The Millennium Park

In from of the railway station is located the 16-thousand-square-meters large Millennium Park made according to the plans of dr. Imre Jámbor. It is one of the top 5 architectural tourist attractions in Siofok and there you will also find a Second World War memorial, some interesting statues and a fountain in the park. There are often held musical evenings as well.

The port of Siofok

The port of Siofok is very interesting. It is the departure place of the trip boats of the Shipping Co., the kids boats and the retro disco ships. Tickets can be bought in the port. There is the largest shipping traffic of the lake.
