Top arboretums and botanical gardens in Hungary
Hundred year old pine trees, plants brought from far away lands, peace and quite – that is what the below arboretums and botanical gardens promise to every visitor. These are the perfect places for a nice, quaint walk and for admiring the perfection of the local and foreign flora. It is the best way for some relaxation and it will be unforgettable, that is sure!

Counted among the pearls of county Vas, the Jeli Arboretum is nearly 107 hectares large and was founded by Earl Ambrózy-Migazzi István in 1922 – at least he was the one who started planning the garden and bringing Balkanean, Chinese, Japanese, Caucasian and American trees. The most representative features of the arboretum are the rhododendrons all over the place that cover the whole garden with their flowers in May and June.
Located in county Fejer, the Alcsuti Arbretum gives home to more than 540 species from the are as well as some very rare and valuable plants. You can admire the color and fragrance of numerous wold flowers and you can also see the wonderful cedar tree brought from Lebanon and planted in 1830 – 180 years ago.
The Vacratoti Arboretum in the Veresegyhazi-basin of Hungary is the largest of all such establishments in the country and also has the richest collection of plants. The center of this huge garden is the Castle Park that enhances the unique atmosphere of this beautiful place. There are plants from all over the world in this almost 200 years old garden, now more than 3100 species of trees and bushes await visitors with a breathtaking atmosphere.
This nearly 20 hectares large ‘tree garden’ is very well known among the specialists all over the world. This collection is the highest lying arboretum in the country guarded by the nicely flowing Cuha creek. Apart from many local species, the garden hosts trees and plants from 5 continents of the planet – and it is gorgeous IMHO…
